Description
These beautiful MyMelodyy “yarncakes” from Wolltraum (based in Switzerland) consist of a very smooth 50% cotton, 50% acrylic mix of fibres. Each cake has an amazing gradient of colour along the full length. This gradient is created by changing *one* strand at a time (tiny knots that you can barely see when knitting or crocheting with the yarn) and makes a stunning effect in anything you make with it.
The yarn cakes are available (depending on the colour) in 3 ply, 4 ply, 5 ply and even 8 ply options. We’ve called these “strands” rather than “ply” to avoid confusion with yarn weight names.
The equivalent type of yarn is shown below.
100g of 3 strand gives you approx 500m of yarn, which makes it a 4 ply weight (Light fingering)
100g of 4 strand gives you approx 380m of yarn, which makes it a LIGHT DK (sport weight)
100g of 5 strand gives you approx 300m of yarn, which makes it about DK (or heavy sport weight)
100g of 8 strand gives you approx 190m of yarn, which makes it light ARAN (or heavy worsted)
